Hexham Train Support Facility
The Hexham Train Support Facility (TSF) is located at Maitland Road, Hexham in the Hunter Valley NSW. It is on approximately 38 hectares of the 255 hectare zoned industrial land. At a capital cost of approximately $180 million, the TSF benefits the local and regional economies by creating employment opportunities in the community.
It supports the efficient and competitive delivery of coal for export by improving the timetabling of Aurizon train movements between Kooragang Island and Hexham through the provisioning and maintenance of Aurizon trains at our own facility. It also enables Aurizon locomotives and wagons to be attached and detached, serviced and temporarily stored.

The TSF will significantly reduce activities associated with Aurizon's shunting and provisioning in and around Carrington and Kooragang Island. This will improve the effective use of the existing infrastructure in the supply chain.
The Hexham TSF is consistent with the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) strategy of continuous improvement associated with the Hunter Valley Corridor Capacity Strategy.
Additionally, the TSF will deliver a net benefit to the ecological value of the site through the dedication of approximately 53 hectares of vegetation offsets which Aurizon will maintain. The offsets will be rehabilitated to further enhance their current ecological values.
