Aurizon has secured a new five year contract with K&S Freighters, one of the nation’s leading freight forwarders, worth approximately $20 - $25 million in revenue per annum.
The deal will see Aurizon transport approximately 20,000 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) per annum across Australia.
Aurizon Executive Vice President Customer & Strategy, Mauro Neves said K&S Freighters will become one of Aurizon’s largest intermodal customers and the contract will have multiple benefits for Aurizon.
“Building volume and scale with high-quality customers is integral to Aurizon Intermodal’s success in a very competitive market.”
“We are delighted to have secured this five year contract with K&S Freighters and look forward to delivering safe and reliable service across our national footprint.
“K&S Freighters will benefit from Aurizon intermodal’s relocation to Enfield, a site which is optimally located, offering the ability to run longer trains and decreased cycle times.
“This partnership will see Aurizon provide an integrated and efficient national service offering to a leading freight forwarder.”
K&S Freighters Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer Paul Sarant said the company picked Aurizon as a partner to enable growth.
“We are pleased to be partnering with Aurizon over the next five years. This contract will enable K&S Freighters to continue to build our business and unlock growth opportunities.”
K&S Freighters will be a foundation customer of the Port Botany rail shuttle service which will be operated by Aurizon. The shuttle service will commence at the end of August and will move imports daily from the Port to Enfield via rail, reducing truck congestion in the Port Botany precinct.
Aurizon will lengthen rail services and increase double stacking on its five services per week on the east-west corridor to meet the contract needs.
