As General Manager, Service Delivery Coal North, Operations Catherine Baxter has been working with her team to create significant changes to the Coal North operations which includes Goonyella and Newlands Coal Systems in Central Queensland. Catherine believes that Aurizon has a very exciting future given all the changes that the Company is going through to make itself more efficient. The learnings that Catherine has brought to Aurizon from other companies is to continually pursue excellence and speed change.
Catherine has a number of years’ experience in heavy haul rail. While moving to Aurizon was easy from an industry experience perspective, it provided different challenges for both Catherine and her family as they relocated from Melbourne to Mackay in Queensland.
Adapting to the differences quickly, Catherine and her family are enjoying the outdoors, sunshine and good weather of Central Queensland.
Outside work, Catherine is a member of the Army Reserves, holding the rank of Operations Captain where she continues to challenge her leadership skills. She also enjoys keeping fit, in particular through long distance running.
Troy Sparkman
As the General Manager for Intermodal Rail Operations, Service Delivery Bulk Markets at Aurizon, Troy provides strategic direction, leadership and planning for the future development of Intermodal Rail Operations to effectively meet the business requirements of its customers.
He is also responsible for managing the efficient running of geographically dispersed operations across multiple state boundaries.
Throughout his career with Aurizon, Troy has had the opportunity to work in many areas such as the bulk business and iron ore in Western Australia and coal in Queensland and New South Wales. He is proud to take some of the learnings from those parts of the business and apply them to the Intermodal business.
Troy lives in Melbourne with his wife and three daughters. Outside work, Troy enjoys boating, fishing, snorkelling and playing water sports with his children.
When he is not travelling inter-state, Troy prefers to ride his bike along the beach at St Kilda to and from work at Kensington.
