It will position Aurizon’s intermodal freight business with better access to port and the Bypass road. Construction of the facility was delivered on budget and ahead of schedule after 11 months of construction.
The facility is equipped with the latest innovations to drive efficiencies, lift productivity and deliver improved services for our customers. It includes a freight distribution centre, a modern container terminal, three new rail tracks specifically designed for intermodal operations and an improved road link and intersection at Stuart Bypass Road. It has direct links to the North Coast Rail Corridor, North West Rail Corridor and Stuart Bypass Road.
The facility has a hardstand area of 21,000 m2 and a storage area with a nameplate capacity of 280TEU and a maximum of 340TEU. The freight distribution centre shed area is protected by a modern fire-fighting system and intruder detection monitoring. A new reach stacker and combilift will increase the heavy lift handling capacity.
The Stuart Intermodal Facility will continue Aurizon's safety and performance driven culture.
