Jilalan Wagon Overhaul Facility

The Jilalan wagon overhaul facility is located in Sarina Queensland. The new facility represents a $36 million investment by Aurizon to support the continued delivery of safe, reliable services for our coal customers in Queensland.

The purpose-built 7,500 sqm facility will accommodate the decade-long program to overhaul approximately 5,000 of the 106-tonne coal wagons that the Coal business use in Central Queensland.

It incorporates smart technology and work practices including remote-controlled movement of wagons, automated grit blasting facilities and special tools and equipment that enhance employee safety.

Wagon overhaul commenced in August 2020.
