Aurizon announces that Marcelo Bastos will join the Aurizon Board as a Non-Executive Director with effect from 15 November 2017.
Marcelo has more than 30 years of experience globally in the mining industry. He has extensive experience in major project development, operations, logistics and senior leadership in most of the major sectors of the mining industry including iron ore, gold, copper, nickel, zinc and coal.
For the last six and a half years Marcelo was the Chief Operating Officer of MMG Limited with responsibility for the business in four continents and a member of many of the company Boards. Before MMG he spent seven years with BHP Billiton where he served as President Nickel Americas, President Nickel West (based in Perth), and Chief Executive Officer and President of BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (based in Brisbane).
Marcelo also had a 19 year career with Vale in a range of senior management and operational positions in Brazil, including General Manager of Iron Ore and also Director of Non Ferrous - Copper business.
Marcelo is currently a Non-Executive Director of Iluka Resources Limited and an External Director (Non-Executive Independent) of Golder Associates.
