As the General Manager, Major Projects, Program Delivery at Aurizon, Mark manages a large multi-disciplined team of project and construction management professionals who are responsible for delivering key rail infrastructure expansion projects.
Under Mark’s leadership, the $1.1 billion Goonyella to Abbot Point Expansion Project was commissioned ahead of program
despite extraordinary wet weather in 2010-11 with an overall cost saving of $50 million.
The $900 million Wiggins Island Rail expansion and the Bauhinia Electrification projects are currently underway.
Mark believes that for Aurizon to become world class, we need to keep the transformation going, ensure that we exceed business KPIs and continue to attract and retain good people.
Prior to Aurizon, Mark worked as the General Manager for Alstom Australia, where he was in charge of all EPC turnkey power projects in Australia and Vietnam. Prior to that he spent 11 years developing and delivering turnkey rail system projects in Thailand, South Korea and South Africa with Alstom and Bombardier Transport.
Mark lives on the Gold Coast with his wife and three kids. As part of his exercise routine, Mark spends an hour cycling to and from the train station and then takes the train to Brisbane city every working day. He also enjoys running along the Brisbane River or at a local gym when he can during lunch time.
