Aurizon extends sympathy and support to families affected by tragic road accident in Central Queensland
Aurizon is offering support and counselling to the families and work colleagues of three Central Queensland men tragically killed in a road accident in Central Queensland overnight
At around 7pm last night, two Aurizon train drivers and an Aurizon contractor were tragically killed when a car and truck collided near Stanwell, west of Rockhampton. They were travelling to a point for a crew change for a coal train.
The Queensland Police Service is yet to release the names of the men killed in this tragic accident, pending contact with the respective families.
"This is a black day for everyone in Aurizon and our deepest condolences and thoughts go out to the family and friends of the men, and the workmates who were on site at the time of the incident." Managing Director & CEO Lance Hockridge said today.
"They will be sadly missed and our heartfelt sympathy goes out to their families at this deeply traumatic and difficult time.
Aurizon is offering our full support to families and work colleagues at this deeply distressing time.
"Aurizon is also assisting Queensland Police in every way we can with the investigations to determine the circumstances of this tragic accident. Safety for our employees remains our utmost priority and we must do all we can to better understand what happened."
Aurizon last night brought together a team of key management and HR support staff to travel to Rockhampton today to assist local management and employees. Aurizon is providing full support to those affected including access to counselling services
