Andrew became the Managing Director and CEO of Aurizon in December 2016 to lead the Company into the next phase of its transformation program.
He brings to Aurizon extensive operational experience in the resource industry and in managing supply chains for the world’s largest integrated portfolio of iron ore assets.
Andrew’s twenty-four-year executive career has been spent with Rio Tinto and in its subsidiary companies, with his most recent role being the global Chief Executive Iron ore.
He is focused on leading performance improvement initiatives, and was the Global Practice Leader, Asset Management, Technology and Innovation group of Rio Tinto from 2005 to 2009.
Andrew has championed a number of workplace initiatives including improvements in safety, a commitment to diversity, and the strengthening of indigenous and community relationships.
Andrew completed a Bachelor of Mining Engineering at the University of New South Wales and holds a MBA from Deakin University. Andrew is a member of the 2012 class of Henry Crown Fellows at the Aspen Institute.
He is married with three daughters and lives in Brisbane.
