Location: Flexible Location (must be in commuting distance to an Aurizon Office)

 

Aurizon is looking for an experienced Engineer to join our Plant & Equipment Engineering team. In this role, you'll provide engineering expertise across a diverse range of mobile equipment and fixed plant assets that support Aurizon's ports, terminals, intermodal facilities and depots. 

You'll work on projects that improve safety, reliability, maintainability and operational performance, while contributing to the development of engineering standards, specifications and long-term asset strategies. 

About the role 

Reporting to the Senior Plant & Equipment Engineer, you will: 

  • Develop and implement engineering solutions for plant and equipment assets. 
  • Investigate equipment failures and identify improvement opportunities. 
  • Prepare and review technical specifications, designs and engineering documentation. 
  • Support capital projects from concept through to commissioning and asset handover. 
  • Conduct design reviews and technical assessments to ensure compliance with engineering standards. 
  • Contribute to engineering standards, procedures and best practice across the business. 
  • Work closely with operations, maintenance teams, contractors and external suppliers. 
  • Provide technical advice to support safe and reliable asset performance. 

About you 

To be successful, you will have: 

  • A degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Mechatronics discipline preferred)
  • 3-5+ years' technical experience. 
  • Professional Engineer registration (RPEQ or equivalent) or the ability to obtain registration. 
  • Engineering/Asset management experience with mobile and/or fixed plant, ideally in heavy industry, e.g. mining, ports, terminals or similar environments. 
  • Strong problem-solving and fault-finding capability. 
  • The ability to manage technical work programs and engineering projects. 
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
