Each year, the Company transports more than 250 million tonnes of Australian commodities, connecting miners, primary producers, and industry with international and domestic markets. It provides customers with integrated freight and logistics solutions across an extensive national rail and road network, traversing Australia.
The Company also owns and operates one of the world’s largest coal rail networks, linking approximately 50 mines with three major ports in Queensland.
Get to Know Aurizon
Aurizon has four major product lines for customers: Network, Coal, Bulk, and Intermodal. Aurizon also provides a range of specialist services in rail design, engineering, construction, management and maintenance, and offers large-scale supply chain solutions to a diverse range of customers.
The Company’s success and future growth is linked to the key demand drivers of the Australian resources sector in global markets and the ongoing strength of the Australian economy.
Aurizon is well placed to benefit from the continued long-term growth in demand for coal and iron ore, particularly from fast growing Asian economies such as China and India.
Aurizon has implemented a major reform and business transformation program since its privatisation and listing on the Australian Securities Exchange in November 2010. This transformation is embracing every dimension – safety, customer service, operational excellence, productivity, and technology and innovation – as the Company strives for world-class performance.
On 14 August 2017, Aurizon announced its intention to exit its Intermodal business through a combination of closure and sale. Subject to regulatory approval, Aurizon has signed a binding agreement with a consortium of Pacific National and Linfox to sell its Queensland Intermodal business, and a separate binding agreement with Pacific National to sell its Acacia Ridge Intermodal Terminal. The sale transaction is expected to be completed by June 2018. The remainder of Aurizon’s Intermodal business (outside of Queensland) will be closed by 31 December 2017.
